Description

Essential Aspects of the Supervision Evaluation Tool Application Exercise:

Description of tool and implementation process (What, Who, When, Where, & How?) Based on the readings you have completed throughout this course and the BACB’s Supervisor Training Outline*; complete an assessment tool you would like to use in the future *at your agency for supervisees to assess supervisor performance (sample included but create your own). The tool should be easy to complete and should address your knowledge as a supervisor and your ability to design the environment where your supervisees are likely to succeed.

Use the headings below for each of the 6 selected elements. Please include:

  • The name of the element (ie: “Section 5b Communicate Regularly”)

Description: You should include a clear description of the expectations for acceptable supervisor performance. The criteria should be specific, observable, and measurable.

Evidence-based Supervision Protocol: Be sure to include all relevant components of the evidence-based supervision protocol (Reid et al. 2012, p. 14) but operationalize each component (how will you know each step was done correctly?)

Who will use this tool? How will they use it? The tool would be used by the supervisor, a peer of the supervisor, and a mentor of the supervisor but you must describe how each of these individuals would use the tool differently. Who, besides yourself, would see the completed tool? For example, what would signal the need for additional supports or other consequences if your supervisees have concerns

Quality of Supervision: What criteria is established for supervisory performance? Self-observation of supervisory performance? Peer observation of supervisory performance? Mentor observation of supervisory performance? Describe the advantages/disadvantages of assessing supervision quality from this person’s perspective (e.g., Why would it be a strength to assess quality of supervision from a staff perspective? A peer perspective? The supervisor’s perspective?)
