Description
Some consulting projects begin implementation with the design and facilitation of a workshop or team event. In Holman, Devane, and Cady’s 2007 text, The Change Handbook, there is information on methods such as World Cafe, future search, Rapid Results, balanced scorecard, Six Sigma, and action learning. You can search for one of those methods or find others in the table of contents.
After you choose a method from the The Change Handbook and read about it, read an additional journal article on that method and provide a critique of the article. Referencing the chapter from The Change Handbook and your selected journal article, develop a post that addresses the following:
Describe the method you selected (What is it? How is it used? In which settings might it be most appropriate?)
Analyze the usefulness of the whole-system method explained in the article to practice consultation psychology at the group or team level.
Assess the psychological underpinnings of the theory discussed by the author of your chosen article. You will accomplish this by identifying key psychological elements of the method you selected by describing the roots of the method in the larger field of psychology, and by noting how the method connects to relevant theories within psychology Evaluation of Consulting Project
Part 2: Discussion Instructions
Evaluation of consulting projects is an essential element of effective consulting. It provides valuable feedback on the efforts of the consultant and client to effect change while supplying consultants with critical information about their own practices, including areas of mastery and areas for development. In this discussion, review some material on evaluation approaches, critique those approaches, and suggest strategies for applying those approaches in a real-world setting. In your post:
Review two different approaches to evaluation.
Describe the strengths and challenges of each approach.
- Identify consultation settings or situations for which each approach would be ideally suited.
- Describe how at least one of the approaches could be incorporated into your case study.
