Question 2.

Family Health Promotion Teaching Plan

You are working with a family composed of the following individuals:

Father, middle-aged (40-50) of mixed race, African American and Caucasian, works as an internal auditor for a bank, has his CPA, and does taxes during tax season for “a little extra money”.

Mother, middle-aged of Latino heritage, works in housekeeping at the Marriott and has worked her way up from maid to supervisor of the day staff in housekeeping.

Children: 3 boys: 20 years old – a sophomore in the local university studying finance and marketing and works as a sacker at the local grocery store; 17 year old – a senior in high school who does well and participates in multiple sports – soccer, wrestling and baseball, mow lawns during the summer; 13-year-old – middle schooler who loves all things with wheels.

The parents have been married for 19 years and own their own home in the suburbs of a large metropolitan city. The father indicates he is not a “handyman” and because he is a “workaholic”, there are repairs that need to be done around the house. The mother indicates she is a “typical wife” who cooks and cleans. She loves to grow flowers and garden as a hobby. The family is Catholic and attends mass on a regular basis. The parents say they have an “open door” for any of the boys’ friends. The parents live in the same city as their parents and siblings and see both on a regular basis.

Recommend a teaching plan that reflects a maximum level of health promotion for this family, assuming that none of the family has major health issues. Identify outcomes that are SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely and the health promotion items that would accomplish the outcomes. Provide your rationale for the intervention. Identify if there are any cultural competencies to consider in the plan. Address any budget or financial issues in accomplishing the plan.

Submit the plan to the dropbox. The plan can be presented in multiple ways: narrative form, table, mixed narrative and table; you can choose the format as long as all of the information is presented. Must be 3 – 5 pages (APA format) not including the title page or reference page responding to the question(s) above. You must have at least 2 scholarly references in addition to the textbook and 2 citations.
