Question Description
I’m working on a social science multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Please respond to the following statement:
Good Afternoon!
My name is Eric Farmer and I am a Regional EHS Manager with GE in our Renewable Energy Division. I specifically deal with EHS relating to the building of new or retrofitting old wind turbines. This generally is considered construction in many aspects. I work from home and live in a small town in South Texas just below San Antonio with my wife and 15-year old son. This is my last semester with CSU to complete my BS in Occupational Safety and Health. I plan to take the CSP as soon as I can after graduation, and I will be starting the MS in Environmental Management in January with CSU. Legal aspects of health and safety are part of EHS and part of the CSP examination, so my largest hope is that I can use this class as a study guide for that portion of the CSP exam.
I have participated in several OSHA inspections and one programmed inspection while I was working on a multi-facility data center construction for Google in Nebraska a few years ago. This was a randomly selected inspection. I was not directly involved with the inspection because I was not the overall EHS Manager for that site, but I was interviewed by the Compliance Officer and was given the opportunity to show him around my construction area. I thought, like the other OSHA inspections I have been involved in, that the Compliance Officer was very professional, knowledgeable, and reasonable. He allowed us to correct several things on the spot without fear of a citation, and even gave us some mitigation suggestions to keep from other hazards arising.
