I have to comment on my classmates discussion board question this is what he wrote:
The cycle of violence is when an offenders keep repeating crimes over and over. It is very important to study this behavior in order to determine rather if the offender is a career criminal or was their first time a mistake. Also, to determine the root of the reason why an individual is committing crimes repeatable In many cases, an offender, can be an offender that keeps repeating the same crime because it is something that they grew up seeing, a act of revenge.

BCJ 2501 Unit III
My classmate wrote this and I have to comment on it:
I agree with this theory very much. Based on my experience interacting with those in my life I see such a similarity between what is modeled and how someone behaves based on what they have observed.
Personally my family is by easiest example. I am one of 6 children and we all had our parents to model our lives after yet we each took some different approaches based on what we observed. My older brother looked at the financial prowess of my parents or lack thereof and decided that would never be him so he became focused on learning how to manage money very well. He now manages a hedgefund and is very successful at it. My youngest brother saw the example of how our parents loved each of us and while he may not be finacially on the most stable footing his family is full of love and caring to a high degree.
So I believe we are all impacted greatly by the observations we have in our lives but whether we choose to mimic the behavior or use it as a guide of what NOT to do is based on the sum of our personality grown through our life experiences.
BCJ 2501 Unit IV
Theories of social structure imply that economic status and economic conditions cause people to commit crime. How does economic deprivation lead to crime? Is it inevitable that someone who is economically disadvantaged will eventually turn to crime? Do you feel this is an acceptable theory of criminal behavior?
