1 .Ana,
Discuss the negative influences that bias toward children and families can have on teaching and learning.
If children are learning negative thing at home by family, shows or family friends it can impact them in many ways while learning. The child will think that they can do whatever they want without consequences. For example, they think that hitting or using unkind words is okay because there parents don’t say anything to them. So they’ll bring that attitude/energy to school and treat there friends and teachers that way. Not only does this impact children but also teachers. If the teacher is going through something negative outside of work it also impacts the children because they see what your feeling and the energy that you present to the children they’ll feel it too. So we have to make sure that the children are using, hearing and looking negative things because as you see it can impact them in different ways. Not only them but us to as teachers also have to be really careful on how we present ourselves to the children.
2. Sandra,
Discuss the negative influences that bias toward children and families can have on teaching and learning.
In teaching and learning there could be bias toward children and families can have negative influence. There can be a lot of different ways to make bias like helping more the smarter kids in the class vs. the children who aren’t as smart. Also the girls vs. the boys. Some families could feel bias from the school due to being the parent who volunteer their time to help in the classroom vs. the parents who can’t volunteer. The parents that don’t speak English vs. the English speaking parents. Having bias on teaching and learning has a negative reaction in the children and families. The children can feel that their best effort is not valued. That because of the bias, which is not anything by their fault can be used against them. This can be something that the child have as a negativity for their future school years and life.
