Description

Part 1

Throughout the course you have learned many characteristics of criminal justice organizations. The system seems to be perched on the edge of major changes, but are there flaws in the design of CJ organizations that make them resistant to change? Provide at least three barriers to change.

Thinking about the paramilitary design of policing and corrections, in what ways does this structure inhibit organizational change? What are some solutions?

Assignments must be between 300-400 words, in a standard 12 pt font. If citations are used, APA style should be implemented.

part 2 Discussion Board Topic: Give two recent examples of how research has been used in the criminal justice system. Analyze the effects that this research has had on the field.

Discussion Board Guidelines:  Submit an answer to the discussion board. Each discussion board post will be between 200 – 300 words long. Refer & cite current resources in your answer.  You will need to respond to one peer’s posting. Your peer response should be a minimum of three sentences.

part 3

Discussion Board Topic: Using your module resources and your own research, come up with a unique program that can be offered in correctional facilities.

What are the goals of your program? What results do you hope to achieve? What are the anticipated costs associated with its implementation? Are there any partnerships that need to be made for your program to be a success (with schools, treatment facilities, churches)?

Discussion Board Guidelines:  Submit an answer to the discussion board. Each discussion board post will be between 200 – 300 words long.

Part 4
Discussion Board Topic: Thinking about the increasing privatization of prisons, what are some pros and cons of the issue?

Why do you think that private prisons have more problems with the operation of their facilities in terms of both inmate and staff management? Should the US continue to build private prisons? Why or why not?

Besides private prisons, what are some additional cost cutting measures that states can take in the corrections system?
