PART 1

A communication plan provides direction for your team. A potential barrier will be keeping the plan updated. This can happen when the project change and the communication plan need to change along with it. This is when the plan is not clear, and precise and team members don’t know who will communicate with whom, when, and how without question. To overcome this barrier is to refer back to the project overview if the need be and realign the communication plan to the revised project. A communication plan will act as the North Star when problems start to arrive.

PART 2

Some potential barriers to a communication plan can be broken down into simple miscommunication or lack of communication. Throughout any type of project plan, effective communication is essential for the success and completion of a project. This communication must begin before the start of the project and must remain consistent throughout the entirety of the project even after it is launched. In most cases, a lack of communication occurs when there is no effective way to communicate. As the project leader, one must choose multiple forms of communication that everyone can agree with: emails, phone calls, conferences, zoom calls, google drive, SharePoint, etc. At the beginning of the project, the leader must decide which forms of communication they will use and how often. Weekly check-ins and updates are also essential to ensure that everything is running smoothly and operating correctly. When problems occur, it must be communicated right away so that people can problem-solve efficiently.
