Planning for the Future

In this exercise, compose a report about your future in the field for which you are training.  Cite all of your references.  Be sure to proof-read your report for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.

What will it mean to be a professional in the type of business that you are preparing for? (10 marks)

  • What responsibilities might you have?
  • What types of external customers will you have?  What age group(s), gender, ethnic background (if relevant), income levels, life styles etc.
  • How will you dress?  What are the personality traits of a professional in your business?
  • What skills will you need?

Other Considerations:  (10 marks)

  • What attitudes will be necessary?
  • What further studies and experience will be necessary to advance in your business?
  • Are you likely to work with people who are different from you?  Younger or older?
  • Do some research and anticipate your future.  Cite any sources by copying and pasting the URLs.
  • Tip: look at some job descriptions for the types of positions that you obtain. Read about the type of work that you will be doing. Investigate companies in your field that you might work for. What will be expected of you on the job?
